All data is encrypted both during transfer and while stored, with secure daily backups retained for 15 days. Access is secured through multi-factor authentication, set permission controls, and identity checks. The servers run inside AWS Virtual Private Clouds with firewall protection, DDoS safeguards (AWS Shield), and continuous monitoring to keep the system protected.
Yes. All activities are time-stamped and stored in the case timeline, creating a full record for compliance, invoicing, record-keeping, and resolving any disputes.
Of course. Support is available for both solicitors and expert witnesses. You can also access step-by-step guidance and helpful resources directly through your dashboard if you prefer to resolve an issue yourself.
Yes. The platform meets the requirements of CPR Part 35, FPR Part 25, and CrimPR Part 19, and includes tools for declarations, conflict checks, and structured expert instruction.
You can reassign experts or add new instructions at any point. Prior instructions are retained in the timeline for continuity and audit trail purposes.
Yes. You can add multiple experts or specialties to a case and track each part (e.g., main report, addendum, court attendance) separately.
We invoice on behalf of the expert. For privately funded matters, payment is held securely in trust and released upon completion of work. For LAA cases, we manage breakdowns and funding confirmations.
Absolutely. The platform includes functionality to manage Legal Aid Agency (LAA) approvals and shortfall arrangements. Quotes and supporting documents are downloadable for court submission or LAA portal upload.
Yes. You can view anonymised CVs, fee structures, and turnaround times before selecting an expert. Once you’ve obtained court or funding approval, you can formally instruct the expert via the platform.
Simply create a new case on the platform, select the required specialties, upload any initial documents, and submit the enquiry. You’ll receive matched expert profiles with CVs and quotes ready for approval.
Nothing. The Gateway has been set up to assist with your work, but it it free to join, with no ongoing costs for you as an expert.
Yes. You are under no obligation to accept any case and may decline with a reason. If withdrawing after acceptance, you must notify the solicitor and administrator through the portal for reassignment.
30 days from invoice submission, subject to solicitor acceptance and funding confirmation. In private cases, fees are held in trust and released upon report approval.
All reports, addendums, and court attendance confirmations are uploaded via your portal. Invoices are generated automatically or uploaded manually, and we handle the rest.
No. For GDPR and conflict-of-interest reasons, you see anonymised case summaries first. Full details are released only after you confirm interest and availability.
You do. Experts define their own fees by case type and number of individuals. The platform applies a commission which is shown only to solicitors. You keep 100% of your fees.
